In 1968, upon entering Kanazawa University, he joined the hogaku club and studied koto.
Studied under Tadao and Kazue Sawai in 1975, and graduated from the 23rd term of the NHK Traditional Japanese Music Technicians Training Program. After winning the Encouragement Prize at the All Japan Sankyoku Competition and the Dainippon Katei Ongaku Kai Composition Competition, he won the first prize (ensemble division) and the Ishii Goro Prize at the Panmusik Contemporary Music Competition with Traditional Instruments in 1979.
In the meantime, he moved to Nagoya when Sawai Koto Institute was founded, and served as the first Secretary General of Sawai Koto Institute until the end of its 5th anniversary celebration.
Since 1981, he has appeared on NHK TV programs such as "Hogaku Hyakusen (Summer Music)" and "Noon Present (music in the program)", FM program "Hogaku no Hitoki (Autumn Wind Music, 5-dan Kinuta, Spring Music, etc.)", actively participated in various events and projects, and toured abroad under the sponsorship of the Japan Foundation (Turkey, Lebanon, Mexico, Suisun, etc.). He has also frequently participated in overseas performances dispatched by the Japan Foundation (Turkey, Lebanon, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, France, Australia, and the U.S.A.).

He has also been a special technical advisor for the koto club of Kikuri High School in Nagoya (from April 2005 to August 2012), and won the "Excellent Prize" at the Sobun Festival Mie in 2009 for his koto quartet composed by Katsutoshi Nagasawa, and the Grand Prix at the Miyazaki Festival the following year for his string song composed by Ichiro Higo, The following year, at the Miyazaki Competition, his composition "Genka" by Ichiro Higo won the Grand Prix and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award.
In the meantime, he was entrusted by his hometown Toyama Prefecture to improve the skills of the local high school koto club at the 2012 So-bun Festival in Toyama, where he worked as a technical instructor from April 2010 to July 2012.
Currently, he is a member of the Aichi Arts and Culture Association (ANET), presides over the koto music "Ren no Kai," is the owner of "Hibikian," a music dojo for all schools of koto music, and is a professor at the Ikuta School Sawai Koto Institute.
In 2014, he became a director of the Nagoya Sankyoku Renmei.
Teaches in Nagoya, Toyama, Tsuruga, and Fukuyama. Born in Hakata, Toyama Okuda Junior High School, Toyama Chubu High School, Kanazawa University, and lives in Nagoya.
