Born in 1947 in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, Noda Yayoi learned Ikuta-ryū koto from her mother, Noda Shūkin, from childhood. She later studied under Hagiwara Seigin. She is a performer of a wide range of music, challenging not only the classics, but also modern Japanese music. She has performed abroad many times as a cultural emissary. She received the Kyoto City Art Newcomer Award for her recital performances. Noda is a graduate of the NHK Traditional Japanese Music Training Program (15th term). She is a Director of the Kyoto Sankyoku Association as well as a member of the Kyoto Hogaku Group and a trustee of the Kyoto Arts and Culture Association.
