Born in 1945 as the eldest daughter of Eto Teruko, a jiuta and koto musician in Kyushu. Began koto studies at the age of 10. In 1961 she began studying the koto under Akagi Mitsuaki. After her mother's death in 1973, she began to study shamisen under Akagi as well, where she continues to this day. In 1989, she began sankyoku ensemble studies under shakuhachi master Araki Kodō V, continuing to the present. She lives in Shimonoseki City, Kitakyushu, along with her daughters, Yuko Yamamoto, Masako Mochizuki, and Taeko Fujii. She devotes herself to performance activities as well as guidance and training of the next generation. She is a director of the Shimonoseki Sankyoku Federation as well as the director of the Kitakyushu Sankyoku Association..
