Shakuhachi
Aoki Michio was born in Tokyo on August 1, 1925. Studied Kinko-ryū repertoire under his father, Aoki Reibo I, alongside his younger brother, Shizuo. He began his teaching career in 1945. By the 1970s he had several important affiliations in the shakuhachi world: He was auditor for the Japanese Sankyoku Association, and a director of the Kinko-ryū Association. After his fathers passing, he took over the reigns of the Reibo-kai shakuhachi school. With his own untimely passing in 1973, his younger brother inherited both the school and title of Reibo.
