Shakuhachi

A multi-faceted artist, Kujiraoka Tōru was born in Toyama Prefecture.
After graduating from Niigata University, he studied at the NHK Japanese Music Skills Training Association.
He studied shakuhachi under Fukuda Teruhisa and composition and arrangement under Kawasaki Etsuo. Though he prefers living in Niigata City, he performs as a shakuhachi player both in Japan and overseas.
He is a member of "Kunpu no On" and "Hatake Shakuhachi Quartet."
Kujiraoka is the conductor and shakuhachi instructor for the Niigata City Junior Japanese Music Ensemble Class at the request of the Niigata City Arts and Culture Promotion Foundation.
He is a registered artist for the first period of the Ryūtopia Outreach Program.
He is also active in composing, arranging, and planning and producing Japanese musical instrument concerts.

Teachers
