Shakuhachi
Kazama Zenji was born in Chōfu, Tokyo in 1997. He started playing the shakuhachi in the fourth grade and studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Fujiwara Dōzan. He received the Agency for Cultural Affairs Commissioner's award in the Japanese Music category at the 38th National High School Cultural Festival. Kazama works in composing, arranging, performing, and video production with the concept of "approachable Japanese music." He graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Japanese Music, majoring in shakuhachi, and currently works professionally. As a member of the shakuhachi ensemble Fugatakein, he has appeared on NHK's "Tradition of Japan" and TV Asahi's "Untitled Concert."
