Born November 28, 1911 in Gifu Prefecture, Itazu Kindō (Itazu Shigeo) studied Ueda-ryū shakuhachi under Ueda Chokudō and Ueda Hōdō. Started teaching in 1933. He was chairman of the Gifu Prefecture Ueda-ryū Executive Committee and was active as a teacher and performer for over 40 years.
